Venice: 'Cymbeline' Lands North American Home with Lionsgate, Grindstone

Ethan Hawke, Ed Harris and the star of 'Fifty Shades of Grey'

Michael Almereyda's modern-day adaptation of William Shakespeare's Cymbeline has landed a North American home with Lionsgate's Grindstone Entertainment in advance of the movie's Sept. 3 world premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
The film stars Ethan HawkeEd Harris, Milla Jovovich,John LeguizamoPenn BadgleyAnton Yelchin andDakota Johnson, the up-and-coming actress who nabbed the lead in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey.
Cymbeline will be distributed by Lionsgate Home Entertainment, which is planning a limited theatrical release timed to a major digital push.
Hawke will be a busy man at Venice, where Good Kill is also making its world premiere. Hawke stars opposite January Jonesin the drone drama, directed by Andrew Niccol.
Producers Michael Benaroya and Anthony Katagas of Keep Your Head Productions announced the Cymbeline deal. “We have the highest confidence that Lionsgate and Grindstone will giveCymbeline the dedicated handling it deserves,” the duo said.
A tale of love, betrayal and revenge, Cymbeline unfolds amidst an epic battle between dirty cops and a drug-dealing biker gang.
CAA negotiated the deal on behalf of the filmmakers. International Film Trust is handling international rights to the film.
